The content filter server will scan the mail for spam/virus infections and forward the clean mail to our main QMT server (the mail HUB) located inside our private network.
Similarly all e-mails from users located on our internal network also need to be passed through the content filter which in turn will forward the clean mails to our main QMT server. In order to forward all outbound mails from our local users through the content filter, I plan to use another QMT server in our internal network that will do SMTP user authentication and then relay mails from authenticated users to the content filter. The content filter will then scan and forward e-mails to our main QMT server which will deliver local mails and forward all outbound mails desitned for the Internet to our relayhost located in the DMZ for delivery.
It is here that I need your help on how to setup the SMTP relay server with user authentication in our internal network. I understand that the MySQL database located in the main QMT server needs to be made available to the relay mail server so as to authenticate SMTP users. I shall be very much obliged if somebody can help me out by explaining the procedure to do so. I am attaching a JPEG image depicting the proposed diagram for the e-mail setup.
