In most cases the generic 220 message when you connect, tells you what
the MTA is. Unless it was changes by the admin. So if you did a
telnet to the IP using port 25 you should see the greeting.

Subject: [qmailtoaster] how to ID an MTA

Hey there,

I want to ID an MTA in a certain host.

(Ie: I want to know if the MTA in smtp.xxx.com is Exchange, Qmail,
whatever)

How can I do
that?

Happy holidays.
