Most of the packages are available for (insert your favorite Distro here).
Debian, like most others have the various packages. Its just that "Qmail
Toaster" as discussed on this list typically pertains to the one for CentOS.
There are plenty of mail toasters out there based on qmail, but for some reason
not called "Qmail Toaster". For example, the one I usually used was just
referred to as a "Mail Toaster", and it had basically all the same packages as
this one, but it was for FreeBSD. What makes all these packages run on
various OSs is just someone taking the time to make sure packages work "out of
the box", and provide some sort of scripting to tie everything together. Doing
a quick search, it looks like "Bill's Linux Qmail Toaster" at
http://www.shupp.org/toaster/ is in fact Debian based. Not sure how old it is
though.

Personally, I typically use FreeBSD or Debian. However, I do find that CentOS
is ALOT easier to use, as things "just work". So if you want a tested, hassle
free mail server, I'd suggest using this one just as it is, via the ISO, or
even VMWare image if you don't want to manually install everything. (I went
with the VMWare image a few days ago, and am playing with it now).

My apologies for not providing a valid answer, and perhaps an attempt to steer
away from Debian for this particular application. Just stating that as a
Debian user (at least on the Linux side), I found the switch to CentOS for this
application very painless, as the system still "looks and feels" just like one
of my Debian systems.

Subject: [qmailtoaster] Toaster on Debian

Hi there,

I am new to the list and looking for hints and tips to install this
toaster on Debian?

Also, I am no programmer, but still willing to help. (be it testing or
translating, etc.)

Can anyone give me pointers where to start? I saw that some people
obviously have done some work creating .deb packages?

Thanks for your help!

Martin
