/It's come to my attention that some people are abusing my work by
bogging my server down with multiple downloads. I've already limited
the bandwidth since downloads BURIED a 3M connection, but then I
started to get complaints from users who were unable to download the
software or it was very slow. I started to investigate and saw that
cerain users (such as IP 61.7.216.10) were opening 20+ download
sessions. I've installed a module to limit the number of downloads per
IP address now, so hopefully this should solve the problem caused by
some crap-heads out there.
/Okay, It's pretty understandable what you did but actually the
download speed is: 9.5-13.8 KB/sec this is lower then an old 56K
modem. For downloading 569 MB it take 1 day and X hours.
So the /"have a working mail server in about 30 minutes." /it's pretty
much a fake. Any chance to have a better download speed, please?
If you pay for the download of CentQMT5 you will get a better download
speed.
I've throttled the speed on the free download of QMTISO. If you get a
really slow speed, it's because other people are downloading it at the
same time. I throttled the total bandwidth used, not on a per-IP basis.
Since the free version averages 10+ downloads per day, the server sees a
lot of traffic. They're 700M files, remember. I'm sending this email 3
hours after you sent yours and I see 7 people downloading the thing
right now.
I understand your frustration, and since I put Qmailtoaster on
Sourceforge a week or so ago (at least I registered it) I may move the
ISO over there to use their bandwidth. Otherwise I'm going to drop the
whole free ISO download. It's been downloaded 13879 times (that's
9715300M worth of downloads) and not one single person has ever hit the
donate button or gotten me anything off of the Amazon list (for those
that didn't want to donate money). It does cost me money to run things
like this - and the ISO is a big sink due to bandwidth.
