Thanks for the suggestion Jake. I dug up how to use recordio on the archives and got that in place. It seems this issue is being caused by our ISP, as selective traffic seems to timing out to remote locations. I tried switching to our backup ISP and everything is back to normal again.
Bittersweet end to the saga. Glad it's not a problem on our end; but now I have to depend on my ISP to fix this issue.
