I have a Qmailtoaster mail server, on a Dell 1950 server, using Centos
5.3 64-bits, 8 Gigabytes on RAM.
Our server has 700 mail accounts, handling 10000 outgoing emails, as
well as incoming emails.
We have installed SpamDyke in that server, and since that, we are
having lots of timeout problem when several users are checking their
accounts using Outlook.
Sometimes it occurs also on the POP3 and SMTP services.
Could it be that Qmailtoaster is unable to handle that amount of email
load? What is the acceptable size of /usr/bin/softlimit so that it can
be used on POP3/SMTP?
So it handled the load before. You installed Spamdyke and now it's
timing out. Seems pretty obvious that you must have something
misconfigured in Spamdyke then. Try removing it to make your problems go
away, or configure it correctly.
This is not really a high load server. I have a single P4 3.0Ghz machine
with 2G of RAM that has 160 domains and 2800 users that handles around
30,000 messages per day (13,000 sent, 17,000 received, average). I do
not run Spamdyke on this server.
Your hardware should be more than sufficient.
