The backscatter fix was for blacklisting local domains, right? I see
how that can prevent email being received from forged local domain
addressses, but I don't see how it fixes this kind of problem:

* this [email protected] happens to be a spamcop trap
* spammer sends from this address an email to my user, who has autoresponder on
* the autoresponse is delivered to [email protected]
* spamcop thinks my mail server is sending them spam and blacklists it

You're correct. I didn't understand the situation entirely.
Have you been able to verify with spamcop that this is what's happening?
I wonder if spamcop uses SPF or DKIM for their spamcop traps. Might that
help this sort of thing?
