Which patch specifically are you referring to?
Do you need the patch?
Have you applied the patch?
The welcome message is determined by the contents of the
/var/qmail/control/smtpgreeting file.
Does the patch use something different?
He's most likely talking about this patch:
http://www.digitaldaemon.com/FreeBSD/qmail/index.html
But it does not apply cleanly and needs to be modified to work with QMT
correctly. There has not been enough interest in it for me to invest any
time into it.
