I have changed the infrastructure around a little. Downloads for the
Qmailtoaster packages will now need to go to mirrors.qmailtoaster.net to
download the package names.
I have already adjusted the website as well as the current-download.sh
script and update.sh script. They will now use the new locations.
Why did I do this? As some of you know there was a change in the clamav
project that caused all old versions of the clamav package to stop
working. This caused a flood of downloads from the Qmailtoaster website
that forced me to take other actions to allow downloads of the packages
to continue.
Now that I have had a chance to make actual plans instead of knee-jerk
reactions, I have set up a collections of mirrors to download the
packages from. There have been 3 people who have volunteered bandwidth
to the mirrors, and I have thrown two servers into the mix myself. At
the moment just my servers are in the mirror list, but once the others
have their ends set up we will have 5-6 mirrors to download the
Qmailtoaster packages from. From your end, this is easy and
transparent. You can download any package from
http://mirrors.qmailtoaster.net and will be routed to one of the servers
in the mirror list. The next time you download a files, you may get a
different server, but I have implemented a backend infrastructure to
ensure that all the mirrors will have the same files.
This should ensure that we are not overloaded bandwidth wise in the
future, and ease some of the burden off of my servers.
I'll be adding mirrors over the next week or two, but this will also be
transparent to you as well.
If you have any scripts that download packages from Qmailtoaster, you
will need to modify them to use the new paths. The old paths should work
until 6-1-2010, but they will cease to function after that date. Please
update your scripts sooner than later.
The current.txt file's location will remain the same.
