I'm using VMware Server v2 presently. Might give KVM a try once it
matures a bit.
I'll have to find where to get that so I can test it. I assume that
version 2 works with 32-bit CPUs?

There should be a link on the VMware wiki page (if there isn't). You
need to register to get it, but it's free to use, although not open
source. There are 32 and 64-bit versions. While the 64-bit host will run
on any 64-bit processor, you can only run 64-bit guests on hosts with
more recent 64-bit processors.
