CNAME lookup means a DNS lookup. So it probably means that X.com is not
a correct domain name (check for typos?) or the name service for X.com
is not properly configured.

Peter

Or the name service for X.com is configured in a peculiar way that some resolvers fail to resolve. It's kinda hard for us to help with specifics w/out knowing the actual domain involved. You might try a different resolver though (either locally or otherwise) to see if that helps.
