Early this month, yahoo.com changed their DMARC policy such that emails
from message lists submitted from yahoo.com accounts are now rejected by
mail systems that fully implement DMARC, which includes yahoo, gmail,
hotmail, outlook and others.
I've done a bit of learning about DMARC, and as it stands, DMARC that's
configured with reject policy essentially breaks all email lists. This
is a weakness inherent in DMARC which is well known to those familiar
with DMARC (iow, something that's not easily fixed).
One remedy to this situation is to prohibit yahoo.com accounts from
joining/posting to email lists. I've done a little searching, and there
have been about 700 posts to this list in the last 10 years from a total
of about 50 accounts.
I expect that banning yahoo.com will not have much impact on the QMT
lists, and will avoid the problem of some people not getting posts from
yahoo members.
Does anyone have a problem with doing this? I don't intend to do it
immediately, and I probably should give notice to applicable yahoo
accounts when I do. Just fielding input at this point.
