I tried all you mentioned but could not delete '/var/lib/spamassassin/3.003002/updates_spamassassin_org/MIRRORED.BY' The folder '/var/lib/spamassassin/3.003002/updates_spamassassin_org/' existed but was completely empty. I copied the folder over from another toaster and since it works correctly, now I am able to start spamd and to sa-update.
