At some point as I was going through the qmt mailing list I saw a discussion about removing the symlink qmail-queue to qmail-dk (domainkeys) as its deprecated and replaced by dkim.

I think you did the correct thing by unlinking qmail-dk. If you don't use domainkeys qmail-dk is unnecessary I think.

I came across this suggestion after Googling the error:

Disable domain keys:

rm -f /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue
ln -s /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue.orig /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue
