In my config I have this setting
auth_cache_ttl = 1 min
auth_cache_negative_ttl = 1 min
auth_cache_size = 100M
Since I experience similar things in the past. Hope this helps.

Hi Eric,
I found the issue, it was
aauth_cache_size = 32M in the dovecot.conf file. Once I removed it the
password changes worked and there was no relay.

Hi list,
One more issue, seems like any password changes made via Qmailadmin or
vpasswd do not have any effect.
I see the clear text password entered in the db, but you can not login
to squirrelmail or dovecot. I used the newest install instructions on
http://www.qmailtoaster.net/ for CentOS Linux 7 QMT Host.
Any idea on how to change passwords ?
