Make sure you get a good IP address from AWS. You can get a bunch test them and release the ones you don't want.  If necessary try a different data center location. Many of AWS's IP addresses, networks and ASN's are blocked by major ISP's because it's easy for spammers to setup spamming servers. Also, you'll need to get AWS support to open outgoing port 25 so your mailserver can send mail. They are pretty lenient about allowing that.
