Hi Sebastian,
I wouldn't advocate hacking up any of the scripts - I'm a software
developer myself and can't stand poorly written code. That said though,
Qooxdoo isn't my project. :-)
There's definitely no Perl dependency with make.sh. I mentioned it for
completeness.
Best regards,
Chris

Sorry - "separator" should obviously read "escape character".

Hi all,
Firstly, thanks to Sebastian and Dietrich for their patience and
suggestions.
It all came down to Cygwin's versions of Perl and Python not being
installed. Calling a Win32 compiled version of Python from within
Cygwin results in the "\" character being interpreted as a path
element instead of a seperator, causing all sorts of funky badness
to happen.
As I'd prefer not to need two versions of Python installed, I might
look at the Qooxdoo build system and offer a patch for this
situation if anyone's interested.
I think there is not dependecy to perl for our tools/make.sh script. I
have a win xp machine here and I use the cygwin version of python. It
works fine. I think it's the best to install this version with cygwin
and have two python builds instead of hacking the script to become
compatible with an uncommon system setup.
Regards,
Sebastian
Best regards,
Chris

try a
tools/realclean.sh (renderer) or
tools/clean.sh (HEAD)
to cleanup cache files first. Hopefully this helps.

Hi Sebastian,
If I execute tools/make.sh (from the top-level directory), I end
up with a basically empty qooxdoo.js file after a whole heap of
errors complaining that grep can't find the file it's being asked
to work on. Am I doing something totally dopey here?
Best regards,
Chris

Hi all,
I've just built Qooxdoo, but to do so I had to copy the contents
of the 'source' directory to the 'public' directory. Have I
buggered something up? Has CVS magically put things in places
they shouldn't be?
You normally don't have to copy anything manually around. Just
execute tools/make.sh after checkout.
Sebastian
