thank you for your long mail. I think you are right.
As you probably already know the hours of a day are limited. We have all
our jobs to earn money for our families. The company I am working for
has published qooxdoo as open-source, which is great I think. They do
this because they like open-source software. Also they hope that the
community helps us, to bring out one of the best free javascript
toolkits available today. But there is also another side. We have
projects in our company which are highly time-critical. You cannot just
invest many hours to search for links in old documents and bringing them
up-to-date each time you change a bit in your code or directory layout.
It would help if people, who find wrong links, like you, report them to
us, to allow us to fix them. Even better would be, we setup an an
account for our homepage CMS and let them fix the errors themselves.
Also it would be great we have more active developers. It will be better
as the company I am working for will invest even more time in the future
to develop qooxdoo. Also it would be great to have a more active
community which also helps us to bring articles up-to-date, write new
ones and add news to our homepage. Don't get me wrong. I am really
enjoying the help of others (which are listed in our contributors list)
but we just need more people to help to keep all the stuff up-to-date
and let the community grow even more.
As a professional, looking for an environment to use for a new project,
all these things affect the perception of qooxdoo. At first it looks
particularly unprofessional, and out of date (articles are a few months
old, the last item of news was a month ago, and "recent" items go back to
at least 6 months ago.)
It's only when you join the mailing list that you realise that there is a
vibrant community behind it, with lots of development going on.
You need to "evangelise" more - I only found qooxdoo through reading "Ajax
in action". There are no references to qooxdoo in Wikipedia. Brushing up
the user front-page will mean more people starting to use the toolkit,
more contributions etc.
In the past we have invest more time in developing qooxdoo, than in
bringing it to the market. I hope we could change our priorities a bit
after the next major release is out.
You are invited to write a wikipedia article or update any article on
the homepage. Just ask for an account and you will get one for our CMS.

Question from Alexandre Bairos about the licence 07/20/2005 09:25 PM. Not
having a reply gives a bad impression, especially since the date is so
long ago.
5. Inconsistent links
The front page has a "demo" link in the menu which takes you straight to
http://qooxdoo.oss.schlund.de/demo/release/public/test/user/Index.html.
However, at the bottom of some pages (like the home page and the 404 error
page) there is a list of links including Demo (beta). I found the beta
demo once, then couldn't find it again. It took me some time to realise
that I could switch between the two demos on the demo itself.
There should be a static demo page which explains about the demos, the
status of the beta etc, then which links to the two demos.
Another example: Click on the "Features" link at the bottom on the home
page, then you are presented with the Features page. But now there is no
context to say where you are. Ideally there should be an additional
"Documentation" sub-menu on the left which allows you to choose other
documentation items.
