I have no spec. Sorry. But I can give you a hint where to look at:

QxAppearanceTheme-Default.js (line 1674):
theme.registerAppearance("tab-view-button", [...]

Thanks. Took me some time to work out what the options affected and how they interacted.

Got there in the end - patch attached.

Thank you for your help. Committed to CVS. I have changed it a bit, to move the text a pixel up if the tab is checked (like windows does).
