I think, this is fine.

But i don't think, it is a good idea to ALWAYS return this, if we actually
return nothing.
Because most of the programmers are not familiar with it and because what
about changes in the function itself.
If a function actually returns nothing but in a verw days return "0" (for
example) some of the working code needs to be rewritten.
I don't linke the idea to check every code after a update from SVN.
To write such "special" functons for decading are fine, but nor all!
