Apparently, no information on the authors or any credit is given for 
_any_ of the articles at http://www.ajaxpath.com/. In legal terms that 
seems to be questionable at least...  :-(

In any case, the original article is a post to the IEBlog from Peter

Given that IE6 is simply outdated technology (remember that IE6 came out 
in April 2001, almost 6 yrs ago!?), there should be quite some potential 
to catch up in terms of pure JS performance.
