Alex, I believe this is a commonly-discussed deficiency in the currently layout
system.  The tree widgets (and, I believe, many others) must have their size
fixed.

You should be able to catch an event on the window ("ONAPPEAR"?) and resize
the tree based on the size of the window.  I haven't yet tried this, but I
expect to be working with it some time soon.

What browser are you using?  The artifacts should have nothing to do with
qooxdoo, I would think.
