I (obviously) completely agree, but at the moment it seems full XHTML
support is not a priority; then I followed the implicit Sebastian
suggestion and, as I already said, created a separate tool which can
post-process the source build replacing the standard source loader in
order to fully support development of applications inside XHTML
documents.

That all looks straightforward. One question: does the script do nothing if it
finds a non-XHTML file? In other words, could it transparently be included in
the make file for all makes?
The current version doesn't check the document type, so both XHTML and
HTML files are processed. Anyway, the redirect loader also works with
HTML documents, so there's no harm in including it in all makefiles.
