IE 8 does not support the canvas tag. There is a JS library available the
will allow you to use the canvas tag without modification on all recent IE
versions. MS has not committed to supporting the canvas tag so right now
there is nothing to look forward to from them. But, there is the above
mentioned library that I have tested and it works great with qooxdoo, it's
called ExplorerCanvas (excanvas.js) and the main page for the project is
http://excanvas.sourceforge.net/
It uses the Apache License V2.0. I have used it in qooxdoo to create
standard 'shape' objects (circle, triangle, etc) for use in a project I just
started. So for anyone wanting the flexibility of <canvas> in Internet
Explorer, ExplorerCanvas will do the trick.
