Not quite,
Statics are just like any other variable except they don't require a 
class instance to be used. They don't have to be constant, hence the 
naming convention to help you distinguish.

Of course this how they are done in the qooxdoo framework, but at the 
end of the day its your own choice so choose what you feel most 
comfortable with.
