I think I might have answered my own question on this one -- it looks like the 0.8 theming is more or less the same as the 0.7 set up.. ( http://qooxdoo.org/documentation/0.7/theme_support ?). Will try and use the old docs as a starting point to see if I can figure this out, without too much hand-holding from RC1 pressured devs...
