Thank you Derrell, By setting the table width, I was able to stop the growing on the table.
But, as mentioned by you, I have to hardcode the width 800 (for example). Setting the width as 100% gives a syntax error and setting it as "100%" (with quotes) has no effect and allows the table to grow as before. So, I will try to figure out a way to give the width in percentage and remove any possible hardcoding.
One more thing. When I get the 3 elements (Filter bar, Table and then Navigation bar) in the verticalbox Layout one below the other, there is a small overlapping between these widgets (please see the attached image). As of now, I am trying to prevent it by setting the "height" property of the atoms and their vertical alignment but I assumed that since the widgets get added one below the other, this should have automatically been formatted correctly.
