In 0.7, you should be able to do textfield.setWidth(newWidth);
In 0.8, you should be able to do textfield.setLayoutProperties( { width :
newWidth, minWidth : newWidth, maxWidth : newWidth } );
If course you needn't specify the minWidth or maxWidth if you're willing to
allow the layouter to adjust the width as it sees fit.
