OK, I need to work out how to preserve these events and the existing
API.  Thanks for the feedback.

        Bill, I think you've broken the Resize column model.  It uses
the columnVisibilityMenuCreateEnd event to add the "Reset column widths"
button to the menu.  Applications also make use of these events, so we
can't simply remove the feature.  Let's think about what's going on in
here and how external access to modifying the menu can be retained.
