That's a dangerous kludge, I think. The data isn't loaded yet and you're
asking for incorrect table data to be assumed correct by saying that the
count is loaded when it isn't.
Or would you skip the Remote Table model entirely and just work with the

In practice, unless you have large network delays between your client and
server, or it takes a lot of time to determine the row count, the numerous
calls to obtain the row count seem not to have a terribly noticeable effect
on the user experience. If you have (and will continue to have) a small
amount of data the certainly just use the the Simple table model. If you
need the possibility of large amounts of data, you'll likely find the Remote
model to be perfectly adequate. YMMV.
