This suggests you are using a client-side request (XMLHttpRequest or
similar) -- it's expected that this will not work, as the client will
receive the raw data (including headers), not processing it.

I've pointed out links and stated that this would likely work if you'd set
an iFrame to the desired URL -- in that case, the browser will process the
incoming data which, in this case, should trigger a download prompt.
