Daniel,
I guess my ignorance shows through now!  It works if I put it on the correct
zoom level, which is 100% on ie and whatever on ff ( i cant tell).  What
surprises me is that - one and only one zoom level works, whether I zoom
down or up.  At any rate it appears that is is an issue with the browsers
themselves and not qooxdoo.  Thanks for your help.  Both isssues are
resolved.
