You're right - the mail server supports POP3 and IMAP and I'll try out some 
other client next week. 
I can't configure my client - I already opened a request about this yesterday 
and Tobit Software (the developer company) told me that it's not currently 
possible. I asked about the "Re" / "Re-2" thing and about the missing 
SMTP-Header parameters. Another thing I'm gonna check is if the mail server 
itself is possibly removing the header things - I'll check this later.
I don't really like using another mail client / a webmailer as I'm archiving 
all of my mails within the David Infocenter but I'll see what I can do.
