Where did you read that? Could be outdated.
http://qooxdoo.org/documentation/0.8/remote_io says so. The URL isn't
0.8.2, still 0.8 could mean the entire 0.8.x for some people, so a new
0.8.3 could be useful. I know this isn't true, as I'm using POST to
submit parameters to my rails server.
