Interesting idea - That would be another possible method to handle it, but would necessitate calling the function 30 or so times (once for every day in the month) whenever you moved the chooser to a different month or year, in order to display which days would be selectable that month.
Also, I was thinking (when using a range) that you would not be able to navigate to a month where no days were selectable. That would not be possible with the function approach, as you might have to navigate through January (with no dates selectable) to get to February, that had some dates. I can certainly see some use for the function approach; perhaps both options could be put into the interface. It would make it easy to choose dates for buying tickets for sporting events, for instance, which might be on any day of the week in a given week.
