Apparently it works much better.
I modified the condition as below to control the direction arrows behavior.
if ((e.getKeyIdentifier() === "Space")||(e.getKeyIdentifier() ===
"Left")||(e.getKeyIdentifier() === "Right")||(e.getKeyIdentifier() ===
"Down")||(e.getKeyIdentifier() === "Up")) {
e.stopPropagation();
}
