I wasn't so sure. flj might not have been aware of the rather new-ish
packages/i18n-with-boot:false config option when he was speaking of text
files "external to the compressed qooxdoo application".

This is old-style; sting literals have been supported since the beginning.
You probably meant expressions like function calls. But as I said, this
also works now.

This, too, already exists: qx.locale.Manager.addTranslation().
