Hi there, I think that main problem here (which is currently unsolvable) is that qooxdoo is slow - it needs too much time to calculate layouts, to create / resize / remove dom elements, etc. Adding live resize to current code-base is not a problem, but slideshow is.
Try to resize (many times) your browser to see how many fps you can expect in live resize.
