It seems odd that the color doesn't refresh properly even though the value
does. The Table widget used to cache row and cell divs, and reuse them when
possible. Were that still the case, I'd possibly be able to explain the
current lack of color change by claiming that the cell was reused and so the
style didn't get updated. All of that code appears to have been stripped out
at some point, though (probably during the speed-up-rendering work that was
done a long time ago), so I don't see why the color shouldn't change.
My recommendation is to take this playground code and create a small
standard application from it, so that you can easily trace through the code
with firebug or equivalent. There's probably something silly that just isn't
obvious to my too-early-in-the-morning pre-caffeine eyes. :-)
Sorry I don't have more time today to delve into this. Maybe someone else
can take a look.
