The "qooxdoo backend"?
There is no such beast.
Qooxdoo can talk to whatever backend you need. We use Perl for our
applications, others use PHP, others use node.js (I believe) and some people
might use Java.

Hi,
you are thinking about the backend when you are talking about
"qooxdoo-aware hosting services", aren´t you ?
As far as I know the qooxdoo backend is implemented in java so you need
a servlet container like Tomcat or Jetty.
Well, in Germany it is quite easy and cheap to get a simple hosting
service for the Apache Web Server having PHP- or CGI-like-modules, but I
don´t know what about a servlet container. It is possible, that a cloud
computing platform like EC2 or Azure is the best solution for that
issue.
So I think it depends on the backend you will be using, the frontend
should not influence the choice of a hosting service.

2. I also want to verify as part of our study if there are Hosting
centers that are "quoxdoo aware" - maybe even specialize (or at
least
know of these apps) in these apps. We are in mid-west USA

I don't really know what you expect from a qooxdoo aware hosting
center.
There is not really anything special you'd need for hosting a qooxdoo
application as far as I can see.
(Maybe also mention developer friendly host(s) you know of in Europe
also.)
We are hosting websites/applications for our customers. And as we also
develop applications with Qooxdoo, I guess I would call us "developer"
friendly.
We are located in Switzerland, Europe, Planet Earth ...
3. Is the new Quoxdoo book really different material than your
manual and
API documentation from your site? Any comment on it greatly
appreciated.
There is a Qooxdoo book?
As with all books, I guess it will be outdated fairly quickly, at least
as
far as the more current improvements/features are concerned.
PS I have been at this study for weeks now and have considered
fairly
seriously about 5 Frameworks and looked at many more. Let me say it
is
MOST REFRESHING to have a download that actually is coordinated well
with
documentation and a product that works.
That I would certainly confirm for Qooxdoo.

Fritz
