Hey,
did you take a look at the appearance of the modern theme for checkboxes. They
only use a minimum of images because all other stuff like the box or the glow
has been transferred to CSS if available (in the modern theme, which we are
talking about, right?) Just checked the appearance and can't find a reason why
it should stick to 6x6. Could you maybe supply a sample to reproduce?

have been using 19x19 pixel images for theming checkboxes. In 1.3 it worked
fine, but in 1.4 I can’t size the checkbox widget to the size of used images
automatically like in 1.3. I copied the checkbox appearance code to my theme
and changes the paths but checkbox is just 6x6 pixel.
