Thank you Thron, As you probably noticed I am still learning how to use the API Viewer. After reviewing the qx.ui.core.Widget in the API Viewer I noticed that I should use .show (which I did try after the .open).
It is still not showing anything but a white screen. I have stepped the scale of my test back to the following: http://pastebin.com/NGwCB9tF Pastebin of application and http://pastebin.com/Gcm3S03R Pastebin of Widget The widget now has a container, layout and button. Application creates a new widget and adds it to root with a widget.show(). All I see is white. I do not understand what I am doing wrong. All of the debug lines appear in the log window but the button still does not appear.
