Hey,
thanks for your input.
Why i like qooxdoo ?
* it help me to make an understandable code
* it show me what i'm doing wrong, with understandable messages in browser
console (THIS AS NO PRICE)
* very few bugs related to already implemented standard features
* all is high level, having to go deeper in qooxdoo source code is only
required to patch it (personal needs)
* the contrib/api/demo browser is perfect, the API browser is ... perfect.
* i HOPE this PROFESSIONAL framework (so... the team in place) will stay and
grow up with the same philosophy
Thanks for all the kind words. We still see room for improvement so we keep on
the work on the framework. ;)
What's the problem with qooxdoo ?
* need marketing to be known
Thats not the only thing which would help. ;)
* hard to make contrib in the contrib demo browser way (ie, documented,
clean, full time job to make a good contrib, but quality have a price (time)
!)
Do you know that there is a skeleton which takes most of that?
* too few "little examples", provided by the community (all tests made in
the sandbow should be browseable for inspiration)
Already mentioned by t.
* gap between extjs features, you are better in quality, but late in
features. I don't care about that, i don't need exceptionnal and "heavy"
features, at the moment, and i'll survey the roadmap. Virtual table, i only
need this to be confortable.
Well, ext is a product you have to pay for so thats why they are ahead. ;)
What i like to see in qooxdoo ?
* drag & drop tabs in tabviewer
There is already a bug for it:
http://bugzilla.qooxdoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4974
If you are interested in that feature, just add yourself as CC to get all the
updates.
* limit the with in % of tabs list in a tabviewer, so i can make another
component at the right of tabs list by exemple
Hm, that sounds like a rare use case. I'm not sure if thats possible with the
current API, maybe it already is with some hacks.
* a way to put littles icons before minimize/maximize/full screen icons in
caption bar of windows, without having to patch something
Thats a rare use case as well, but should be easy to fix by overriding the
window and override the _createChildControlImpl method and create the stuff you
need and move the max/... buttons one column to the right.
* github/facebook/gwt like theme
Don't you like the simple theme? Thats something like that...
* more tooltips fashions
You can style the tooltip the way you like it. Additionally, you can set
whatever tooltip you like so its possible to have more than one tooltip style.
* native themable simples dialogs (info, yes/no/cancel ...)
We also have a bug for that but I just don't know the number. But we do also
have two contributions containing such dialogs. Maybe they are worth taking a
look at.
* abstract layer regarding MVC model, i mean, perhaps more SIMPLE examples.
Our data binding makes exactly that, but what do you mean with simple examples?
* native effects to display things (opacity effect should be an appearEffect
in config option), with listeners start/end
We are working on that currently.
* native iframe hack over flash :D
:D
Regards,
Martin
