I think the response code is not provided by the browser, particularly not
cross-platform. The problem with a 204 response being interpreted as a
failure may lie at line 515 of UploadForm.js (see [1]), where the 204 status
returned is something other than "complete". Perhaps you can set a
breakpoint and see what is returned? I think that this event is only fired
on IE however, and that other browsers fire the "load" event what browser
are you using?
Is the exact response status important or do you just want to know that it
uploaded successfully?

When I send back a 204 the completed event is never fired.
When I send back a 400, indicating and error, the event is fired.
I'd even like to know how to get the response code back. I can't find it in
Qooxdoo.
