That indeed was the problem! Now it works again.

I know that the "trunk" or rather, git HEAD is bleeding edge and not for the
faint-of-heart, but this kind of change should certainly produce better
error messages unless you assume the trunk users have telepathic abilities.

And of course, if everything else fails, ... RTFM ;-)
