No, qooxdoo doens't have promises or futures currently, it's all plain
old event handlers.
As for your jsfiddle example I can only speculate that as you are doing
the animation in CSS (rather than through a jquery API) there is nothing
in a jquery queue the promise could observe, and hence the promise calls
its callback immediately. Maybe others can comment better here.
