Unfortunately your code doesn't work for me. item (from getModel()) is null. Therefore i get an index -1 I have to say that i add items to the selectBox by adding ListItems. I think this is the reason i have no model. here is a small sample code: http://tinyurl.com/q6axt9w Nevertheless mySelectBox.getChildren().indexOf(mySelectBox.getSelection()[0]) works for me.
