It is a bit more tricky in mobile environment.
iFrames do not work on every mobile device, and if they work it is difficult
when they should listen to touch events.
For your use case I would propose that you wrap your app with PhoneGap/Cordova.
There is a plugin called "In-App" browser.

This plugin opens your external page in little slide-up browser window. And if
you close it, you get back to your qooxdoo application.
On desktop browser it just opens a new window.
I think, this is the best solution for your use case.

I thought that any element in a widget should be contained in that widget.

as qx.Mobile is very near to DOM structure, you could easily create your own
widget, by extending qx.ui.mobile.core.Widget and overwriting the method
"_getTagName()".
Then you could listen to "appear" event in constructor and installl further
listeners if you want to.
