Hi, there has been some debate on the mailing list recently. Quite a lively community, particularly some mailing-list members, so we should all be able to turn this engagement into something that qooxdoo can benefit from. Here some constructive input.
Apparently, many issues raised are due to a lack of understanding on how to follow and also contribute to this open source project. Given the high expectations of some of you, it's quite a surprise that you seem not aware of (or don't use) the fundamental means this project offers. So the following recap seems appropriate for a more complete picture: 1. MAILING LIST http://qooxdoo.org/community#mailing_lists Ok, you're reading this via qooxdoo-devel already ... 2. BLOG http://news.qooxdoo.org/ As with most OSS, understand the project's official blog as a must-read. Otherwise, you get cut off all status updates, directions and achievements of the project (600+ qooxdoo posts by now!). 3. ISSUE TRACKING http://bugs.qooxdoo.org/ Any task (bug or enhancement) is reported, processed, documented in this central place. Fully public, subscribeable, additionally promoted by queries in the weekly blog posts for easy access. 4. CODE REPOSITORIES https://github.com/qooxdoo/qooxdoo Similar to tasks, any code change is in public repositories, and can instantly be monitored, https://github.com/qooxdoo/qooxdoo/commits/master We encourage all interested qooxdoo users to utilize those (and particularly those) channels from and to the framework. All the work done on qooxdoo has always been in public, no internal ML, etc., so it's up to you to super-connect. Make sure you also read (or re-read!) the basic information that exists for a long time now, and should still hold (even if it may need some tweaking): * COMMUNITY INFO http://qooxdoo.org/community * PROJECT INFO http://qooxdoo.org/project * COMMITTERS GUIDE http://qooxdoo.org/project/committers_guide * HOW-TO CONTRIBUTE http://qooxdoo.org/community/contribution IMPORTANT: As announced we are currently in the ramp-down for the upcoming framework releases qooxdoo 4.1 and 4.0.2. Focused on shipping the double release this week, we'll certainly not respond to each and every post on the mailing list. Maybe to some recent issues. Maybe we just have to catch-up on some topics and clarify matters - after the releases.
