I'm +1 for Ant for M1, Maven for M2.

A couple of brief points I'd like to add, sorry to drag the debate out but
I'm hoping these will inform our discussion.

Firstly, Qpid already has real live enterprise application users whom we
need to support.
This was the main driver for me proposing, indeed urging, an M1 release
before the major changes planned for M2. Most (all?) of the work in M1 and
the baseline java broker has been contributed by our team, and we have real
business demands for an M1 release.

I have no other motivation for any of my views than getting an M1 cut to
support them, as these are critical projects. I can well appreciate that
other projects want to use Qpid too and the bigger Apache project.

To get M1 out we need to draw a line and start testing. We voted on where
the line was drawn previously.

Btw I'd hope that other projects could use a trunk build with maven when
it's ready ?

I know that we all have differing priorities, but without wishing to carp on
- the project was contributed with existing users and we must support them.
For me, this is the key aim for M1.

We'll be incubating for some time and we can collectively contribute to the
Maven effort going forward. We could even do an interim release for maven
between now and Dec since we've done most of the setup work all round for
release.

Please, deep breaths all round.

Personally, I think going with Maven is the smart money. It seems like a
majority of people think Maven will be the path forward at some point
and it makes sense to bite the bullet earlier even if that means pushing
the milestone out a day or two.
Of course, my opinion is completely non-binding and lacks any technical
expertise.
